UK tennis viewers have one of the better deals in major-sport rights — three of the four Grand Slams are on subscription services with affordable streaming options, and the fourth (Wimbledon) remains free-to-air on the BBC as a listed event under the Communications Act.
Wimbledon — BBC free-to-air
The All England Lawn Tennis Championships at Wimbledon are on BBC One, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer free-to-air across the fortnight. The BBC broadcasts every Centre Court and Number One Court match live, with extensive coverage of the outside courts via the BBC iPlayer red-button feeds. The Men’s Final is on BBC One Sunday afternoon; the Women’s Final is on BBC One Saturday afternoon.
Wimbledon is a “listed event” under the Communications Act 2003 — it must remain on free-to-air UK broadcast. The 2025-2029 BBC contract is locked.
Australian Open and French Open — Eurosport and Discovery+
The Australian Open (January) and the French Open at Roland Garros (May-June) are both on Eurosport and Discovery+ Premium in the UK. Eurosport carries the headline matches on the linear channels, and Discovery+ carries the multi-court feeds (typically Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, plus 4-6 streaming-only court feeds).
Discovery+ Premium at £30.99 per month is the practical option for tennis viewers — it bundles Eurosport plus TNT Sports, and the multi-court Discovery+ player is the standout product for fans who want to track multiple matches across an early-round day.
US Open — Sky Sports
The US Open in New York (August-September) is on Sky Sports in the UK. Sky Sports holds the rights through the 2027 cycle, with coverage running every night on Sky Sports Tennis (a temporary channel that activates for the Grand Slams, otherwise the coverage runs on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Action). The Men’s Final is broadcast live overnight UK time (typically 21:00 UK time start, finishing in the early hours).
ATP and WTA tour — Sky Sports
The full ATP and WTA tour, including the ATP Finals in November and the WTA Finals, is on Sky Sports in the UK. The Masters 1000 events (Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, Rome, Canada, Cincinnati, Shanghai, Paris) are all on Sky Sports.
The exception is the Queen’s Championship in mid-June, which is on the BBC free-to-air as the Wimbledon warm-up.
Subscription cost reality
A complete UK tennis viewer’s setup is BBC (free with TV licence) + Sky Sports (£40-46/month or NOW £34.99/month) + Discovery+ Premium (£30.99/month). The Discovery+ tier doubles up for TNT Sports football and Champions League if those are also in the mix.
